HOW I BOUNCED OUT OF DEPRESSION
However, one beautiful morning, like the prodigal son, I came back to my senses and said to myself, "Tee, you must not continue this way!" Hence, I took some steps which helped me to bounce back to my usual joyful self.
In this article, I will be sharing five tips that will help you overcome depression. I want you to know that these are not tips that haven't been used before. As a matter of fact, they helped me to re-activate my joyful self.
Firstly, you need to realize that depression is never the solution to your present challenges. The realization of this fact is the first step you need to take in order to come out of it. Remember that, a solution is never offered until there's an acknowledgement of a problem.
Secondly, know that your present state is affecting the people around you. The knowledge of this will push you towards seeking a means to come out of your present state. It is a widely known fact that we humans have a way of influencing ourselves unconsciously. Therefore, know that your present condition is definitely having a negative effect on your family members and close friends and you sure wouldn't want to be the source of bad vibe right?
Thirdly, listen to good music with powerful and life-changing lyrics. Honestly, the power of good music can never be overemphasized. So it is pertinent that you listen to good music and let the lyrics sink into your soul. Good music is believed to possess some sort of magic which helps to relax body, soul and spirit. An example of some of the musics I listened to which aided my overcoming is "Seasons" by Hillsong, "Intentional" by Travis Greene and many others.
In addition, speak with a close friend. Once you notice certain signs that you might be experiencing depression, ensure you speak with a close friend. Don't try to bottle it all up. I'm sure you've heard the saying that, "bad things thrive in secrecy" right? It is same with depression, it thrives more when it is kept a secret or bottled up. Always remember that, "a problem shared, is a problem half-solved." I am a living witness!
Lastly, get a book with good content and read. It could be a short story, novel or even the Holy book, just ensure you read something beautiful. From experience, I have discovered that like music, good books have a way of helping our brains to relax and ease the tension up there. So when next you find yourself depressed, reach out for a good book and read through.
In all, I want you to know that it is not a crime for you to fall into depression as it's something anybody can experience regardless of your status. However, it becomes a crime when you remain in it. If I bounced out of depression, then you shouldn't drown in it.
I love you deeply and your mental health matters a lot to me.

ReplyDeleteAs I usually say, there is nothing really like wrong/bad but thinking makes it so. Persistent thought over an unsatisfying condition creates deep wound of powerlessness that later depress the soul. Everyone had fallen into depression at one point or the other, so it's natural due to the world of uncertainty we live in. Then, another healthy practice is Thanksgiving or looking back at your past successes and the privilege you have over some others. This will boost your ego and put a spring in your butt to look forward to new things.
You're very correct! God bless you for reading through.
